Trenches
Trenches
It’s cold and dark and damp down here,
My lonely heart is full of fear.
Here I am crouched in this trench,
If it rains I will get drenched.
My gun is ready in my hand,
While I keep watch over baron land.
My eyes are peering all around,
All I can hear is a deadly sound.
My heart beats fast inside my chest,
But I know I cannot rest.
The sound of bombs explode close by,
As enemy planes are filling the sky.
Then all of a sudden we were under attack,
Then all our soldiers came running back.
Guns were firing high and low,
We knew that it was time to go.
We climbed up the sand bags as fast as we could,
And crawled right through the boggy mud.
We all had mud stuck to our face,
As we charged back to our home base.
