War Poem

War Poem

In 1914 the war began,
Women cried as their husbands marched off,
Off to the trenches – their new home.
There would be no life.
There would be no joy.

Soldiers fell, every minute.
BANG!
Someone had died.
When the gas went off,
The soldiers trembled with fear
Until it was over.

Four years passed and the war went on.
The soldiers never gave up until the final day.
Where the graveyard was,
The poppies grew.
We’ll never forget the soldiers’ bravery,
They fought to save us.
