Jack’s War

Jack’s War
War breaks out, it’s a stressful time,
For years to come the sun won’t shine,
People know soldiers won’t come back,
And no longer will dad see Jack.

Lives are risked for our nation,
There really can be no complication,
The wars that happen we all abhor,
As many soldiers died on the shore.

Savage places about to unfold,
As sickening stories are told,
Of soldiers sent from towns around,
As Darlington’s one, where thousands lay sound.

The beckoning Generals calling to fight,
Bombs dropping everywhere causing terrible fright,
Many towns have to rebuild,
And Jack learns of all the people been killed.

The decrepit noises all scare Jack,
As his mother gets the telegram back,
Dad’s gone but is forever in our thought,
Memorials go up as we all get taught.

Jack’s Dad never did die in vain,
But saved us from evil so we can’t complain,
We can now all say Jack’s Dad is a hero,
For saving the population going down to zero.

The sun will shine for the soldiers forever,
And we’ll remember how countries came together,
To save the people who needed to be free,
Because Jack’s Dad died for you and me.
