The Climb
The Climb
You didn’t see their faces,
You could see it behind their eyes,
The blind terror that consumed them,
As the last shred of hope dies.
All that talk of glory,
All those patriotic lies,
How could we have been that stupid,
To throw away our lives?
We’re already at the ladders,
Only moments from the climb,
Every soul here is silent,
As the inevitable arrives.
I can feel the tension building,
Every man trembling in their places,
You probably think we’re cowards,
But you didn’t see their faces.
