Beneath The Poppies

Beneath The Poppies

Beneath the poppies of French fields
The World War One trenches lie
The poppies blowing freely in the wind
Where many a soldier went to die.

What lies beneath this land we view
The courage of so many unrecognized men
Will it now give rise to life anew
Unsung heroes, that fought for freedom.

Only those who fought could know
The true horror, cruelty and bloodshed
Of where the Poppies now freely blow.
