One hundred years ago
it seems so long
And all the soldiers
Now dead and gone,

they fought together
but must have felt alone
without their families
so far from home

soldiers so young
barely more than boys
carrying guns
it should have been toys

gone now from life
but stories still told
of the memories we’ll treasure
and forever we’ll hold

wars still rage on
in our world today
and for peace in the future
we’ll continue to pray
