Father
Today’s the day he’s off to war,
I’ve never been so scared before,
The regiment of men arrived,
Oh boy, I hope my dad survies.
What is this war?
It’s not even our country he’s fighting for!
I wish I could have him atlast,
But he is too far for my grasp.
Soldiers sing a song so upbeat,
It keeps them marching on their feet,
Until they are at the base,
I could never forget his face.
I sit here waiting for his return,
Time goes by but I still yearn,
Hoping he is well,
But on these thoughts I still dwell.
A telegram has arrived,
Mother begins to cry,
And from her eyes,
I could tell,
Father has died.
