A Birds Eye View

As I fly elegantly through the air,
I look down and feel a sense of despair.
I keep myself to myself silently,
And I constantly feel the bravery around me.

Back and forth across the battlefield I go,
To gather food and return to my abode.
Still though the shrieks and whines,
Send a blood curdling chill down my spine.

Once I see my nest I feel a glimmer of hope,
But sadly my life is a downward slope.
Soon the war will be closer to me,
But what will it bring we’ll have to see.
