An Endless Sorrow

War, a painful sorrow draining the souls of people
And for what?
1000 gravestones set out in rows
And for what?
Soldiers who will never see the light of day again
And for what?
Country against country, blade against blade, bomb against bomb, gun against gun!
And yet I wait, for the arrival of my father.

I don’t understand?
Is there any need?

Today is the day,
We have won the war!
The arrival of the soldiers
Here they come!
Dad?
He’s not…he’s not here.
Dead?
My dad! My heart sinks in relief as I hug him tighter than I ever had before
