Gas Attack!

Shells! Gas! The pain-stricken men cry out!
But, there is one, he fumbles to get the rubber mask on his face before the gas reaches him.
He fails.
You hear the cries of pain that follow as the lungs of this boy Disintegrate.

Men around him stricken with fear.
The fear in their eyes is real.
“RUN!” the sergeant shouts as the gas gets thicker “To shelter!”
The men, who are knee deep in mud trudge on, doing their best to escape the gas, they reach shelter, eventually…..
Gasping for air.
They remove their gas masks and wipe the sweat from their faces.

Today they live, tomorrow they will do it all again

As poppies grow in our gardens and fields, we will remember them!
