Losing Touch

Lines of bodies, broken and scarred,
Hospital beds, blood spattered and hard.
A world of conflict and obligation,
Patriotism is not enough.

The rain and men continue to fall,
Faltering attempts to heal them all.
‘Stand in line, you must serve your time.’
Patriotism is not enough.

Forget harmony, and forget what you love.
Your orders are final, they come from above.
Who’s battle are we fighting? I have no answers.
Patriotism is not enough.
