The Christmas Day Truce

Before the Christmas day truce where people were fighting
They stopped and then candles were lighting
Germans and the English got out of the trenches
And started playing football some sat on benches
They played and played until they were yawning
But yet the war was still dawning
They shook hands and said well played
This only meant the killing was delayed
Back in their trenches they were thinking about tomorrow
But all of them will come back in sorrow
The day after Christmas they continued the madness
But like I said they came back in sadness
A few years later the war ended
But the history of England is now bended
We will never forget this amazing time
And also when a small boy made up this rhyme
