You hear war is great and war is fun,
You say you will get your friends to come,
You don’t realize it will steal your joy,
And turn you into a plain simple boy,
Stepping on the field and wondering why,
That the things you got told were just lies,
Trying to sleep,
But all you do is weep,
As you see images of people dying,
You didn’t realize you were fully crying,
Finally the day has arrived,
When you go home and you see everyone thrive,
Arriving home safe and looking sad,
But your mum didn’t care she was just glad,
She just cared that you got home safe and sound,
So she invited everyone around,
She wanted to celebrate,
For war was over but you didn’t participate,
With games and food,
You just weren’t in the mood,
As you saw terrifying things,
That only war brings.
The Lies
