The Unknown Soldier

I am the Unknown Soldier,
I stood where the poppies grow,
They mark the place of the fallen,
Where we stood row by row.

I am the Unknown Soldier,
The rivers run red with blood,
The ground forever stained crimson,
Poppies growing where I once stood.

I am the Unknown Soldier,
My family grieves while I lay dead,
You walk the earth alive and well,
Lay down and rest your head.
Don’t cry for me dear mother,
For I am finally in peace.

They are the unknown soldiers,
They died so that we might live,
They fought for our freedom,
They gave all so now we must give,
Thanks for their courage, their bravery their might,
They lost their lives for us, now we must live our life.
