The War Goes On

When the first bullet fired sounds the alarm,
the soldiers run into the battlefield.
Their faces drowned out by fear.
The wary smoke blinds them in wrath
as one by one they fall to dust.

Differed noise flattens their hearing
as shells and metal fly over their heads.
Some would survive the first wave,
but would most likely die in the next;
losing everything so quickly.

Ghosts of the tortured men
float to the place that they deserve.
Their presence obscured
by the screams of pain and hatred.
The war goes on, the war goes on…
