The War Story

We said our goodbyes as the train pulled in,
And my wife she ran down the platform
Chasing the train as it pulled away,
“That’s it boys we’re on our way”
bellowing voice from the front of the train

When the train stopped all we could hear was BANG BOOM BANG,
“WE’RE HERE BOYS MOVE MOVE MOVE,”
We grabbed our guns and went off into the dark wilderness
Marching across bullet shot ground
We were treading over hundreds of bodies
Dodging bullets along the way like a gymnast flexing his whole being

We were glad before we came here
But now we are just down in the dumps
It’s a rollercoaster ride with a lot of bumps

we fort until the skies went black
and then we got in our pits and slept the night away
we got up at the crack of dawn
“We Won’t Stop Until We’ve Won”
the familiar voice of the
general who watched us with his eyes like a hawk
Months, years went past
then one day the guns fell silent
THEY HAD SURRENDED
We’ve won this war at last

Now it’s just bad memories
Tremors and shakes
Nightmares of scenes unspoken
