Trench Warfare

Scared soldiers to war.
Starting in 1914,
Sandbags up above.
The First World War had started.

Barbed wire all around.
They’re sleeping on the cold ground,
Scared to make a sound.
Rats creeping in the dug-out.

Wet soldiers marching,
No-mans-land full with battle,
Bad feet from the mud.
Wondering if peace will come,
Poppies are wilting

A periscope in the tree,
How long will this be?
Now it is almost over,
Who has won the war…
