You may not know me,
I’m quite famous now,
But at the time I was around,
I was just a normal solider fighting for my country.

I was in the Great War,
I had many friends,
I watched most of them die right beside me,
It was horrifying,
The gas attacks ended most lives.

My time came way too soon,
Well I think it did others may disagree,
I rest in London with a candle on my coffin,
Do you know who I am yet?
I am the Unknown Soldier who fought in WW1.

I hope the younger generation doesn’t forget,
The Great War and all those soldiers,
Who died for England,
For a better future,
For this great country.
