Women at War

A father, lost in a sea of icy tears, kisses his wife a powerful goodbye
Going to war with regrets and tears, he departs his family with a grieving sigh
The men fight on, while the women stay strong, and yet who gets more recognition?
The soldiers who fight, while the women unite, fuelling the country’s roaring ambition.

The untelevised heroes fought as hard as our men, bringing the enemy to submission.
They kept the front line moving and technology improving as they battled against the opposition.
The pay was low, while the hours were slow, and yet still, they helped the men improve.
Without their assistance, the country could not advance, and yet still, the men disapproved.

While the men fought valiantly, the ladies helped the country financially, bringing us to our success.
Without the help of the women, and all that they’ve given, our generation may not have progressed.
So, this poem goes out to the women, who brought home the men whose spirits they restored,
After saving lives, they welcomed their husbands as loving wives.
The women won us the war.
