World War I Poem
Shots soared passed our ears,
As thoughts trailed back to those we held dear.
Vanished in the fields of France
Forced by our General to advance.
The war caused devastation,
At the fault of a single nation.
Eyes fixated on the enemy,
Firing rounds recklessly.
I had been shot.
Fear of the end, my stomach began to knot.
Struck down with agony,
The skirmish had been a tragedy.
Blood flowed down my cheek,
Why had the world become so bleak?
